in the mood to play around

i'd like to play around with movable type today.  this is the only blog i have set up in it with any content so far, so i suppose this is where i will start playing.  as far as design goes, i am thinking something along the lines of the depo-clean and depo-skinny themes created by Derek Powazek.  his designs were created for word press blogs (which begs another question: why is everyone switching to word press?), but i think i might be handy enough to recreate this look or somethng very similar for myself.
