A Good Day

I can only ride in the car with my windows down first thing in the morning, when I’m on my way to work. It’s only about 72 degrees, probably the coolest it will be all day. I’m fresh out of the shower, smelling like Irish Spring soap (deodorant soap in the summertime is a must) and Lucky Brand perfume. I didn’t feel any need to speed or rush through the traffic. I just felt at peace while driving.

I stopped in Starbucks to get my daily cup of Joe. The girls made small talk about the weather, my Winnie the Pooh tee shirt and sneakers and the fact that on days like this, no one wants to be at work. We should be sitting at a pool somewhere, soaking up rays. I left there with the smile still plastered on my face.

The drive around the bend from Starbucks to my job takes about four minutes. The radio played Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day” and it just punctuated everything I was already feeling this morning. Then I came to work and found this email from my mom:

It is a WONDERFUL day to be alive! I awoke this morning with a keen sense of gratitude. While driving into the office I took the time to look at my surroundings and appreciate all of the treasures we are blessed with. What an AWESOME creator we have.

"Take the time today and look around, and you will truly see life's
treasures offered to us in abundance. The loving family members,
good-hearted friends, the beautiful people that surround us and nature's
many beautiful gifts. As long as we have eyes to see and hearts that pay
attention, we can truly appreciate and be thankful for the abundance of
offerings we receive. How prosperous we truly are with such riches as
these."
