hump day/may day

a day off
At my new job all benefits begin day one, including vacation. I decided to take advantage of that little perk yesterday by using one of my floating holidays so I could have the day off. Originally I thought I’d be spending the day with my cousin but since she decided to leave town early, I had the entire day to myself.

I started it by sleeping until 11am. It felt so good. I realized yesterday that even on the weekends I wake up early enough to go to work so I don’t do much sleeping in anymore. Yesterday I slept until I couldn’t sleep anymore. Then I got up to do some much needed housecleaning. I’m still not done with all my laundry because I have way too many clothes. It’s coming along though.

so where have i been?
I haven’t been writing here as much but I have been writing. I’m working on some other projects and they are taking up a lot of my time. Plus I’ve been playing the Sims again and we all know how addicting that game can be. All of that plus the fact that the NBA playoffs are in full effect means that the internet hasn’t been getting as much attention as of late. I need some new people to add to my reading list too. I’m running out of blogs and diaries to read.

May Day
So today is the first day of May. I didn’t say that rabbit, rabbit thing this morning. Didn’t someone say that you should make the last thing you say Rabbit, Rabbit backwards at night in case you didn’t say it first? Did that even make sense?

R Kelly = beat his ass!
I’ve been meaning to talk about the Vibe article about R Kelly for a while. They go into descriptive detail about the video and statements being made by various young women who allege that Kelly had sexual relations with them while they were still fourteen or fifteen years old. I’m not going to post the details of everything the article said but suffice it to say that negro is going to HELL!

Where's Chandra?
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of Chandra Levy. Boy, we all sure forgot about her huh. Well, they still don’t know where she is. John Walsh was interviewed on the Today show this morning and he says that there were several other young women who disappeared around the same time in DC and it was probably the work of a serial killer. The Levys still think Gary Condit is guilty and they are holding him responsible.

the high price of fruit
Sometimes I miss living in California. Whenever I go to the grocery store to buy produce I am reminded that I live in the middle of a desert where nothing grows. We end up paying no less than $2 a pound for most fruits. I love fruit and this creates a problem for me when Navel oranges are $1.99 a pound and one orange weighs damn near a pound. $2 for an orange? You are smoking dope. If anyone wants to ship me some fruit I’d be much obliged.

I love Borders
On Sunday I went and spent three hours at the bookstore by myself. It was lovely. I ended up buying four books and I've already started reading the first one which is the new Terry McMillan, "A Day Late and a Dollar Short". It's already got me hooked and I've only finished the first chapter. I love the bookstore. I could just live there. I'd say that if there was anything in this world that I could spend more money on besides shoes and clothes, books would be it.

do I have to?
Why is it always hard to go back to work when you’ve had a day off?

warning - reading this part of the post can have some serious side effects including runny nose, irritable bowel syndrome, incontinence, nose bleeds, side pains, headaches, menstrual cramps and a long list of other complications.
